The Non-Profit’s Guide to Understanding Youth Engagement and Outreach

As I began my journey in youth consulting, it became very clear that the terms youth (18–30-year-olds), youth engagement, youth outreach or youth strategy were not wildly popular. There is no one to blame for that, part of the issue that youth engagement is trying to solve is the lack of awareness or gap that exists between youth and our community spaces.
So, I started to brainstorm ways in which youth and their engagement of them could become more prevalent topics in this sector. In essence, I was looking for a way to introduce organizations and professionals working in the non-profit sector to youth engagement. What came out of that?
Well, I am pleased to introduce to you all to The Non-Profit’s Guide to Understanding Youth Engagement and Outreach.
This guide is an easy-to-understand tool that is meant to introduce your organization to the basics of youth engagement.

I created this guide for organizations who were new to youth engagement or possibly had never heard of it before.
This guide is meant to be a starting point for your organization’s commitment to youth engagement. Use it as a tool, as a guide or simply as a conversation starter with your team. However you choose to use it, I hope it serves you well.
This brings me to my next point – youth engagement isn’t complicated, but it does take a lot of time and resources. Which is why I’m here! I can work alongside your organization to help bridge the gap between you and the youth in your community.
